Dog Days!

Hello folks!

Today, I’m about to add a new page/tab to my site called “Dog Days”. On this page, I shall be sharing stories of my dog, Sweety (who, unfortunately, had departed from me some two years back). So, it’s going to be kind of an homage to her, as well as reminiscence of those good old days. Like, arousing the feelings of nostalgia! :’)

I usually don’t speak about her to anybody. Reason being, the thoughts then start nagging me. And they ask forย complete and constant attention. Thoughts about, how wonderful were my days with her and all. Initially, it all goes well. But then, the thoughts that she’s no more with me, pulls me down. To the extent that it leaves me with no enthusiasm to participate in life and in day to day activities. I’ve spoken about her (Sweety) only to a couple of my close friends. So other than that, it’ll be the first time that I’m going to talk upon this so openly andย will try toย break-free from the small part of the shell that is covering me. I’m sure, it’s gonna be a heavenly experience, along with such awesome followers as you guys! Looking forward to it! ๐Ÿ™‚ Starting next week, I’ll be posting here every other Saturday. Hope you’ll enjoy it!

Here’s her picture:

Hope you guys will hang on till the end. I take this moment to Thank You all for the support that you’ve been showing me till date! Thanks a ton! ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S.: The idea of coming up with the title, “Dog Days” is entirely a coincidence to the fact that these are indeed dog days! ๐Ÿ˜› (For those unaware of this term, dog days refers to the hottest days of summer of the year). Here, in the coastal regions of India, it feels as though I myself am actually frying in a pan!!

  2. I think it will help you beyond the devastating sadness of Sweety’s loss, to share your love for her here. All my dogs that have gone before will forever have a part of my heart, so I understand your feelings. I look forward your photos and stories ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Beautiful animal! She reminds me of the dog I had while growing up, Cindy. She was part German Shepard part black lab. My parents got her before I was born. She was my first horse! Very protective of me, since I was her first puppy. While I was growing up, she would walk with me down the driveway to the highway were I’d get on the bus to go to school. When someone would come to pick me up to leave the house, she would block the vehicle from leaving with me, until my mom came to the door and told Cindy it was OK for me to leave! She lived until I was in 7th grade.
My parents have tried to find another dog like her, since she was protective of our family and our livestock. So far they have had several other dogs, but none like Cindy!

But the time you’ve spent with Cindy was undoubtedly very special! The way you’ve described it all completely shows your attachment & love for her! ๐Ÿ™‚
& I’m very well aware of how it feel to GROW up with a dog! It’s totally an amazing feeling! I’m glad you had a good time with her! ๐Ÿ˜€
Thank you for sharing your story! I loved it!

  4. Hello Suri, does the grief ever actually lessen? I lost “my guy” Lucca on May 12. I am still devastated beyond belief.
I told a friend that one of the hardest things about losing Luke is the fact that he will not grow old with me. He was only six years old and had been “my son” from six weeks old.
Btw: this page is a brilliant idea.

Well, good question. Frankly speaking, no. It doesn’t. Sweety, my dog had been with me since she was around 2 months, and then left me when she was about 12 years old in 2014. I haven’t yet recovered from her loss. I’m starting this page as an attempt to move on. I’ve tried many a things before but moving on is just impossible for me.. I hope this way works out. ๐Ÿ™‚
I’m glad you liked the idea.
And so sorry for the loss of Lucca.
