#FlashbackFriday

When the old thoughts creep back in
and you feel cold underneath your skin

When the old days flash right through
and you think that it’s the midnight’s blue

When you start to run quicker and faster
but time catches you swifter and sooner

When your memory’s a blurry, crumbled picture
with a tiny bit of frown and a bit of smile, a dash of tears but sprinkles of hope!

Pause. Stay. Stop. And breath…
do not fall prey to the past’s agonizing bond.
But ‘begone!’ you yell out loud to it’s face
for only then will it shiver and abscond.

Only A Pawn!

mirrorrr.png

Today, when he looked into the mirror, it wasn’t his reflection that he saw. Instead, what he could see was an embodiment of the struggles of his past. The hauntings of his past. This startled him. He didn’t want to look at himself like that. He had always wanted to be the one who conquered over the emotions. He was like the pawn aspiring to become the King. He knew he wasn’t capable, yet he had that ambition, that fire within him which would take him to greater heights. He had always aimed to set an example to the world, about what it is like to have a turbulent past and yet succeed. Maybe he could really do that. But that, he knows, would only be possible if he learns how to take charge of his own emotions.

Solitary Confinement

Even if all the gates flew open, she didn’t move outside. She saw that all of her companions took advantage of the situation to set themselves free; yet she didn’t waver even for a bit. She seemed to have grown accustomed to her illusory and ‘comfortable’ personal space. Her way of giving an excuse to something that demanded her to take a life-saving risk.

Illusion ~ Not Everything Is As It Seems To Be

She became skeptical. He seemed to be unconcerned. There was years and years of distrust buried within her towards him. Yet what she experienced in this meet was unlike ever before. The surface of her heart, which was as hard as a rock, was beginning to melt, upon his mere words. But a tiny voice spoke from somewhere inside, ‘This isn’t worth it. Move on. It’s just an illusion, do not dwell upon it.’ Intuition? Ego? Paranoia? Doubt? She didn’t have even a slightest clue of what was going on deep within her. She was fighting a constant battle against herself. Some of her organs on the side of the devils, while the others on the side of the angels? But then again, who decides who are the angels and who are the devils? Of course, our perspective. But she had lost sense of her perspective. She was mesmerized by him. Finally, she took the hint from the tiny voice and kept quiet. Showing none of her emotions outside. What if it really was an illusion? What if there was a selfish motive behind his sudden softness, after years altogether? She decided to carry on with life as it is. She remembered a quote she had read in a book by J.K. Rowling- “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” If the past keeps you away from your goals, then it’s better to evade it, throw it in it’s rightful place, which is the past itself; and keep moving forward.

What Next?

We walk, run, jump, neglect our health and happiness so as to fulfill the task at hand. We do this in an expectation of a better ‘tomorrow’. But when that ‘tomorrow’ actually arrives, we ask ourselves, “Is this all that I needed to see? Really? What Next? ” The future only manages to keep us going. It is our ‘present’ that sustains us!
